Warehouse Management–Dynamics Ax 2009 Bulk Transfers

18. August 2011

Business Problem
Logistics needs the ability to create individual or bulk transfer journals in order to either move items between bin locations in the same warehouse or to change the inventory dimensions on items in stock.

Solution
Using the current warehouse management application, include a new module that allows logistics to quickly locate inventory, apply new inventory dimensions, and post the transfer journal to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009.

Technologies:
.Net Framework 4.0, Silverlight 4.0, WCF, MVVM, Microsoft Dynamics 2009

Microsoft Dynamics AX WPF Address Import Tool

1. June 2011

Business Problem:
Importing addresses in to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 is time consuming and difficult to do and the support staff needed a simpler way to import address across all four Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 environments (DEV, TEST, UAT, and PROD).

Solution:
The solution was to use WPF, WCF, and the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 .Net Business Connector to allow the sales support staff to load up an excel spreadsheet into the application and quickly import the addresses in to separate environments by changing a combo box. This allowed the sales support staff to quickly load, test, and verify addresses.

Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 Vendor Integration

23. May 2011

Business Problem
External Vendors Warehouses needed to be added as virtual warehouses so that purchase and sales order data could be exchange between the vendor’s inventory management system and the corporate Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 ERP system.

Solution
The solution was to build to expose three .Net 4.0 Windows Communication Foundation services that would allow external suppliers to transmit purchase order receipts, receive online sales orders information, and transmit sales order shipment data to the corporate Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 ERP System.

Customer Reporting Portal

23. May 2011

Business Problem

The SharePoint 3.0 customer reports portal lacked the flexibility we needed in order to provide a more robust reporting system. Our customers requested a reporting system that was easy to use, used their existing online ordering credentials, control report access, and allow users to manage their own subscriptions.

Solution

The solution was to create an web based reporting application using ASP.NET, ASP.NET Membership, SSRS Web Services, and the SSRS Report Viewer using Microsoft .Net 3.5/4.0.

Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 Miscellaneous Receipt Silverlight Application

23. May 2011

Business Problem

Logistics needs to streamline the process of receiving miscellaneous equipment that has been delivered to corporate facilities. Currently, this process is either handled directly in Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 or via a scanning solution using RF Smart. Logistics needs to automate the process of identifying the dimensions for receiving as well as the printing of barcode labels.

Solution

The solution was to create Silverlight 4.0 application for processing miscellaneous receipts that uses a handheld wired or wireless barcode scanner for accurate data-entry, automated dimension and location lookups using customer defined rules, automated barcode label printing, and alerting the user when additional information is needed (IE: Serial #, Asset Tag #, HECI code, etc.).

RFID Online Spares Management Web Application

23. May 2011

A Silverlight application was created to provide scaled down functionality for locations that do not have the RFID Touch Screen client installed. Some locations need the ability to consume, count and audit their inventory without an RFID client. In this case a laser barcode scanner is used to scan the RFID barcode. This application was written in Silverlight 4.0, uses WCF Services, and employs the MVVM architectural pattern.

Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 Dock Receipt

19. May 2011

Business Problem

Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 does not provide the ability to log inventory when it hits the dock. During high volume, the warehouse is unable to receive inventory into the warehouse and our both internal and external customers wanted KPI’s to indicate the amount of time it takes to receive inventory into the warehouse from the time the items were delivered at the dock.

Solution

The solution to this problem was to build an application that allowed the warehouse to record receipts in Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 that can be used for KPI reporting through a Microsoft Silverlight 4.0 application. The solution uses Windows NT/Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 authentication and Windows Communication Foundation to communicate with Microsoft Dynamics Ax 2009 Business Connector. Once a dock receipt is created, labels are printed to a Zebra printer that the users at the dock can affix to the pallets. Once the receiving group is able to process the pallets, they scan the labels using a barcode scanner to process the inventory.
